Have you ever lost your mobile phone?

Yes I did once and I totally got freaked out. As if I just lost the whole world!

Please share if you have experience the same. In this post I will share a few major things that we must immediately do after losing our smart mobile phone. I will post about iPhone on a later date.


Firstly, call your own number using other phone available. But make sure you are not in a habit of putting your phone in silent mode ๐Ÿ™ If you did not hear anything, most probably itโ€™s not near you in any ways.

Next is get to a computer or from another mobile to lock your phone down remotely.

You can do this by logging into your android device manager or Find my Iphone account and manually lock your phone.

There is an interesting feature using gmail find my phone using Google Find my Device from your gmail account. You even have an app at play store to find it. Find My Device app will help you locate your lost android and lock it until you manage to get it back.


How to do this? Go to and sign in using your Google account. Then click at the lost phone at the top of the screen and the lost phone will get a notification. Obviously you will not get it because the phone is not with you. However, on the map, you will get information on its whereabouts. The location stated might not be accurate but it would be most approximate. If it is still not found, then you will see its last known location.


Next what you can do is click the Enable Lock & Erase function. Then choose what you want to do. Either to play sound, which the phone will rings at full volume for 5 minutes even it is set on silent or vibrate.

Or you can secure the device by locking it with your PIN or pattern. o assist someone to return the phone, you can add a message or phone number to the lock screen so that he or she could contact you, it they are not a thief.


Or you could also erase your device permanently all date. But if you do this, Find My Device will then not work anymore.

In short, to make sure your device can be found To find, lock, or erase an Android phone, that phone must:

Be turned on

Be signed in to a Google Account

Be connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi

Be visible on Google Play

Have Location turned on

Have Find My Device turned on
